Matt will be facilitating two Breathwork sessions at the Greenbelt Festival over the August bank holiday weekend.
Breathwork: Finding Inner Hope – Friday at 2pm
Experience the transformative power of your breath to relax and reconnect to yourself, releasing tension and peace. In this breathwork session you’ll be guided to breathe to let go, with a focus on reconnecting to the inner hope within and journey back into relationship with yourself. Whether you’re a breathwork regular or simply curious, you’re invited to take this time out for yourself.
Breathwork: Nurturing Outer Hope – Sunday at 9am.
Experience how the breath connects you deeply with your soul purpose, cultivating inner strength and resilience. In this breathwork session you’ll be guided to breathe with purpose and intention, exploring your outer journey and how you show up in the world. Whether you’re a breathwork regular or simply curious, bring an intention to explore what ‘Hope in the Making’ means for you as you take this time for yourself.
For your comfort, bring a mat or blanket to lie on. These sessions are not suitable for under 16-year-olds.

Contraindications and medical waiver
Across cultures, the breath is revered as a powerful bridge between our inner and outer worlds — connecting mind, body, and soul. This breathwork session will involve conscious connected breathing, which is easy to learn. Breathwork can be gentle and at times also challenging. You’ll be guided to breathe with what is present for you and in a way that is safe for you, however, it’s important to note that this practice is not appropriate for everyone.
It isn’t appropriate if any of the following are relevant to you: pregnant, detached retina or glaucoma, uncontrolled high blood pressure, thyroid conditions or diabetes, cardiovascular disease (angina, previous heart attack or stroke), aneurysm, epilepsy, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or a previous psychiatric condition.
If you’re unsure let Matt know beforehand and check the the Medical Waiver.
If you’re asthmatic, you’re welcome to attend, but please bring your inhaler to the session.
FAQs
Breathwork is a powerful practice that uses conscious breathing techniques to promote physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing. It can help release tension, reduce stress, and foster a deeper connection with yourself.
My sessions will use a continuous and intentional breathing pattern, that allows the body’s natural wisdom to guide the process and promote holistic well-being. This usually involves Conscious Connected Breathing (CCB), which is a breathing technique where the breather intentionally connects the inhale with the exhale without any pauses. It allows deep awareness of self and for our connection with self, others and nature to develop, providing the groundwork for profound personal development.
Breathwork is a powerful healing modality and although usually a deeply relaxing and enjoyable process, it can result in certain specific physiological changes in the body and also sometimes intense physical and emotional release.
Sessions can cause tingling, dizziness, trembling, shaking or other physical sensations, emotional experiences and experience of energy moving through your body.
While breathwork is generally safe, it may not be suitable for individuals with certain medical conditions. As a precaution some health conditions are contraindicated for anyone thinking of practicing the Conscious Connected Breath and it is crucial that you inform me before a session. In most cases you can still join but I will guide you accordingly. If you have any concerns, please consult with your healthcare provider before the session.
Absolutely! The sessions are designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of experience. we’ll guide you through simple techniques and ensure you feel comfortable and supported.
The sessions will include a short introduction to breathwork and Conscious Connected Breathing. You’ll then have time to ensure your space is setup best to support you, you can be sitting or lying down, and you will then be guided and supported in a ‘breathe’. People can experience a range of sensations and emotions, including feelings of peace, clarity, and release, and I will guide you to process the experience. We will end with an opportunity to share and discuss what came up, to help integration.
Wear comfortable, loose clothing that allows you to breathe freely.
Ideally bring a mat, blanket, pillow and eye covering – as well as a water bottle and notepad.
Also have any medication that you may need to hand (e.g. asthma inhaler).
That is completely normal. We will create a safe and supportive environment for you to explore your emotions. I will guide you through the process and be supported by a fellow breathwork facilitator and counsellor.
